Activities Week: (Sunday 25 June 2023 - Thursday 29 June 2023)
On Sunday 25 June 2023, a group of enthusiastic Year 10 pupils embarked on an exciting journey to Cologne, Germany. The trip was a blend of cultural exploration and language immersion.
Our pupils were encouraged to practice their German language skills and engage with the local culture. Daily language lessons provided them with the tools to communicate even more effectively in German, whether it was ordering lunch and dinner at local eateries or engaging in conversations with locals. The pupils used the lessons to hone their language skills and build their confidence in expressing themselves in German.
Exploring the city of Cologne was a highlight of the trip, with its rich history, magnificent architecture, and vibrant atmosphere. The pupils delved into the city's old town, and marveled at the grandeur of the Cologne Cathedral, a UNESCO World Heritage site and a masterpiece of Gothic architecture.
Cologne's green spaces provided a calm pause, a break from the urban bustle. The pupils explored Poller Wiesen, a picturesque riverside park, and the Rhine promenade, where they enjoyed leisurely walks along the banks of the majestic Rhine River. These serene settings allowed them to connect with nature and appreciate the city's beautiful landscapes.
Adventure awaited the pupils at Phantasialand, a popular theme park located just 30 minutes outside of Cologne. They enjoyed everything from gravity-defying roller coasters to immersive themed lands, Phantasialand offered a day of excitement and entertainment, creating lasting memories for the pupils.
In addition to the city's cultural and recreational offerings, the pupils had the opportunity to indulge their sweet tooth at the Lindt Chocolate Museum. They learned about the history of chocolate, from its origins to its modern-day production as well as the art of chocolate making

Junior School Open Day
The next Alleyn's Junior School Open Event is from 1.30pm to 3pm on Wednesday 22 May 2024. There will be a Head's Talk at 1.40pm after which you will be offered a tour of the school with a pupil. There is no need to book a place at this Open Event - everyone is welcome.
