Alumna Izzy Collier Returns to Alleyn's Junior School

Thank you to Izzy Collier (Cribb’s & Jaguars 2001) who returned to Alleyn's give an assembly to Junior School pupils about the important work of The Trussell Trust on Wednesday 11 October.

Izzy took the opportunity to share some memories of her time as one of the first pupils to join the Alleyn's Junior School when it opened in 1992 and she explained her role as Area Manager for South & West London at The Trussell Trust and the essential work it does to support people facing hardship and campaign for change in this area.

Alleyn's Junior School pupils, who recently donated their harvest collection to Norwood and Brixton Foodbank, learned more about foodbanks and the importance of the School's continued support of the Trust.

As part of her visit, Izzy also enjoyed a tour of Alleyn's. She recalled fondly the hours she spent in the school Art rooms and how wonderful she found the affiliation pupils had to their Houses - something that is still a hugely important part of Alleyn's today.

An important element of Alleyn's Community and Partnership work is working with local foodbanks. Work to date includes:

• Whole-school collections every term for the Trussell Trust's Norwood and Brixton Foodbank and Albrighton Community Fridge.
• As part of the School’s contribution to The Big Help Out, in marking the Coronation, two groups of Upper School students and a number of Alleyn's staff volunteered at Albrighton Community Fridge and Norwood and Brixton Food bank in May to support their important work.
• Twice a week Alleyn's takes Year 9-13 volunteers to Albrighton Community Fridge to help sort and distribute food and serve service-users.
