Last weekend saw the launch of our first ever The Big Read Primary Outreach event and it was a great success! The Junior School Hall was packed with parents and children from 8 different schools across Southwark and Lambeth who came to enjoy a talk from Varsha Shah, author of our chosen book.
On Thursday this week, we had our first session of Reception and Year 6 reading together in the Library. It’s hard to describe quite how special this time is. As adults in the room, we can just stand and marvel at the level of enthusiasm and engagement from all the children involved. The Year 6 readers really gave it their all, using voices to make the stories fun and allowing the younger children to make their own book choices. Meanwhile the look of adoration and wonder on the Reception children’s faces was truly a sight to behold!
Junior School Open Day
The next Alleyn's Junior School Open Event is from 1.30pm to 3pm on Wednesday 22 May 2024. There will be a Head's Talk at 1.40pm after which you will be offered a tour of the school with a pupil. There is no need to book a place at this Open Event - everyone is welcome.
