Intensive holiday courses are a great way to build confidence and improve all stages of swimming in a short period of time.
Each lesson lasts for 30 minutes. Class sizes are kept between 6 to 12 pupils per teacher to ensure plenty of individual tuition for each swimmer. Class sizes may vary in the higher ability groups.
Lessons are delivered by specialist instructors in the school’s 25-metre pool, taking place at time between 8.30am and 10.45am, each day. They are suitable for children aged five years and above.
Teachers will accompany non-swimmers and beginners in the water to provide an environment which is fun, friendly, and enjoyable. Parents are welcome to watch their children from our spectator area that overlooks the pool.
Our courses are open to all the community.
Please review the ability bandings below to select the most suitable course for your child.
The description listed at each stage is our aim for where your child will be at the end of the course of lessons. If your child does not yet meet the criteria, then this is the appropriate class for them.
The course will develop confidence and introduce movements in water for up to 5m.
Further confidence to travel 5m on front and back with or without aid
Confidence to travel through water 10m without help, front and back
Develop stroke technique on the front and back working towards swimming 10m to ASA standard on one stroke

Children may move groups if their instructor feels they will benefit from working at a diffrent stage. All changes will be agreed with parents before they are made.
If a change in stage/groups is necessary, the course manager will endeavour to offer an alternative as close to the original booking time as possible.
