This half term, A Level physics students paid a visit to CERN in Geneva, known as the European Centre for Nuclear Research.

Here's what they got up to:

On day 1, they climbed the towers at St Pierre's Cathedral, to see the stunning views of Geneva. They then received a tour of the United Nations office, and got to witness a session in action! In the evening, they had a delicious meal at Hotel Edelweiss, with some amazing fondue and traditional Swiss musical entertainment.

On day 2, students paid a visit to the CERN Science Gateway, where they enjoyed informative displays, demonstrations and games. The key highlight was visiting the Alice exhibition and the CERN control room, where they got to meet the physicists and engineers who work at CERN. It was very inspiring for students to learn more about what happens at CERN, and they jumped at the opportunity to ask lots of questions.

On day 3, the students did some shopping in Geneva, followed by a boat tour of Lake Geneva. Just before heading to the airport, students paid a visit to the Museum of the History of Science.

All in all, it was a very successful trip!
