Last night, Year 10 Saddlers' Scholars, Sofia and Aarush, participated in The Worshipful Company of Educators' Public Speaking Competition 2023 held at the Anglia Ruskin University in London. The event brought together 12 pupils from eight schools for an exciting opportunity to practice their public speaking skills and experience taking questions from an audience.

Thanks to the support from Patrick Burns from the Saddlers’ and Lucy Atherton, the Prime Warden of the Saddlers’, Sofia and Aarush were well-prepared and supported for the competition. During the event, each participant had 10 minutes to give a speech on their chosen subject.

Sofia delivered a thought-provoking speech entitled "Boys will be boys: the dangers of male stereotyping," while Aarush tackled the timely question "Is AI taking over our world?" Both speeches showcased the students' critical thinking and communication skills.

The speeches were judged by a panel consisting of Mrs. Pamela Taylor (Past Master), Mrs. Caroline Haines CC (Master), and Mr. Matthew Christmas (Liveryman). We are proud to announce that our scholars performed exceptionally well, and the judges were impressed by their speeches.
