On Wednesday, 22 March, Year 11 Classical Civilisation pupils visited the British Museum to see for themselves some of the spectacular classical art and sculptures that they have been learning about as part of their GCSE studies and deepen their understanding of the classical Greek world.

The trip included a teacher-led tour of the museum’s major works, including the sculptures from the Parthenon – one of the most famous buildings of the ancient world, and stunning Classical Greek pottery including Panathenaic amphora and the Theseus Kylix. They also had the chance to discover other interesting artifacts.

Year 11 pupil, Esmée, said:

“It’s been amazing to see the artefacts we’ve been studying in real life rather than just on paper.”
