Year 12 chemists enjoyed a day of inspirational chemistry lectures from world-class speakers to introduce them to possible areas of study for the future.

As part of the many exciting talks and activities during British Science Week, Year 12 Chemists went along to the Emmanuel Centre to take part in five sessions led by leading chemists in academia and industry on cutting-edge research or future applications.

The sessions included ‘When Medicines Become Drugs – How Small Chemical Changes Change the World’ led by Alex Baker, ‘Making the Invisible Visible’ from Rachel Bolton-King and ‘Chemistry in Conflict, delivered by Kit Chapman.

Indigo, who attended the lectures, said:

"It gave insight on the variety of different career paths available in Chemistry and how much relevance it has in every day life. Examples were forensic science, war history and technology. It also linked to formulating medicines which was useful for me from a medical standpoint. I really enjoyed it!"

Congratulations to Alleyn's student, Inca, who won the live quiz!
