Alleyn’s Junior School came together this week to celebrate all things reading for Book Week! Book Week celebrates books, authors, illustrators, and highlights the importance of reading.  This year’s theme was ‘Curious Creatures’, with children across the school participating in a range of activities to enhance their creativity. Highlights of a brilliant week include the challenge of reading “One Book in One Day”, which was greeted with a great deal of enthusiasm and the children enjoyed sharing a story with another child during the ‘pared reading’ afternoon. The results of the House Book Quiz and Book Bingo are keenly awaited by all and pupils have been treated to visits from three brilliant authors this week: Jack Meggitt-Phillips, Jennifer Bell and Piers Torday. World Book Day on Thursday saw a lot of ‘curious creatures’ wandering around the school, as the children wore their curious creature masks, providing another entertaining event with the inventiveness, resourcefulness and creativity of all the children on display.
