On receiving her A level results today Year 13 student Rhea, pictured here with her mum, has achieved a family ambition. Over 50 years ago Rhea’s grandmother, residing in India, was offered a place to study at Cambridge University but was unable to attend due to the cost of moving from India to the UK. Rhea’s family are overjoyed to find out that she will get to live out her grandmother's dreams after securing three A* grades and an A to attend Cambridge University to study Human Social Political Sciences.

Having joined Alleyn’s for Sixth Form Rhea entered and won last year’s annual Governors’ Research Project Prize which is an opportunity for Upper School students to enrich their learning by undertaking a research project on a topic they have not formally covered in class. Rhea’s winning essay, Oasis of Diplomacy: How can Sultan Haitham bin Tariq maintain Oman’s independent foreign policy in the face of developing geopolitical and economic risks? was as Rhea said “...incredibly beneficial in my university applications and in growing my professional network. Even though presenting in the viva was extremely nerve-wracking and intense, it was very enriching. I highly recommend it to all students. " Rhea goes on to give advice for other students looking to achieve similar success, “apply yourself to every opportunity even if you don’t think it’ll be worth it, or that you don’t stand a chance, just try and you’ll probably have a good time doing it anyway.”
