Students at co-educational Alleyn’s have achieved exceptional examination results and secured a record number of first-choice university places.

Boys and girls at leading UK independent day school Alleyn’s have received a swathe of outstanding grades in their A Levels this year.

The A Level results, which are the first to be based on sit-down public assessments since 2019, are the school’s best examination outcomes to date. Both boys and girls attained top marks in a range of subjects including Biology, Physics, English and Mathematics, with an impressive proportion being awarded 3 A*s or better. One pupil, Anya in Year 10, achieved a fantastic A* in both her A Level Mathematics and Further Mathematics exams. Results headlines can be viewed on our Examination Results page.

Students secured a record number of first and second choice university places, with the majority progressing to their preferred university on the back of the results. They advance to top centres of learning in the UK and overseas, including Oxbridge, Russell Group universities and prestigious US destinations such as Yale University.

Head Jane Lunnon said: “I am incredibly proud of our Year 13 Leavers, who have demonstrated awe-inspiring grace and courage throughout an educational journey severely impacted by the vagaries of the pandemic. They have been great fun to work with, and have inspired us and made us laugh every day. Their achievements are testament to their resilience and spirit of possibility, and to the values of respect, opportunity, curiosity, courage and kindness at the heart of our community. Students' embodiment of these virtues has, without doubt, helped them overcome the challenges of the last two years and evidence, so unquestionably, all that they are capable of. I am delighted to see so many progress to first-choice universities amidst an incredibly competitive landscape. Bravo to the colleagues that have supported them, bravo to our students, and I look forward to seeing them again as alumni, as they remain, of course, Always Alleyn’s.”

Head of Upper School Rob Atkinson said: “We couldn’t be prouder of our talented young people. They are exceptional and inspiring, and the resilience they have shown has been nothing short of remarkable. To make it through an incredibly tough two years of Covid-impacted life and education and do so well in their first public examinations is a tremendous achievement.”

The results continue a long tradition of academic success at Alleyn’s, which prides itself on a holistic, progressive approach to education. Recent ISI inspection reports, published in early 2022, judged both Alleyn’s Senior and Junior Schools to be excellent in both academic and pastoral categories.
