We’re proud of Year 10 pupil Aanya for coming top of the league tables for the Hamilton Mathematical Olympiad.

The Hamilton Mathematical Olympiad is run by The United Kingdom Mathematics Trust (UKMT) and is a follow-on round to the Intermediate Mathematical Challenge. The 2-hour Challenge consists of six problems requiring full written solutions.

This year’s award threshold for a Gold Medal was 73% (44/60) and above, with Anya achieving a whopping 98% (59/60). She will be signing the Head’s Book for Outstanding Achievement in acknowledgement of her success.

Aanya, who is clocking up an enviable record of mathematical accomplishments, said:

“I am really proud of my results. As I’ve always said: girls can do hard maths! It was wonderful to meet Dr Christie Marr, too, who was very kind with her words and encouragement.”

Head Jane Lunnon said:

“Bravo Aanya, and many congratulations for placing so highly, and amongst the top mathematicians in the country. We are, as always, so proud of you”.

The UKMT annually invite around 600 qualifying students from the Intermediate Mathematical Challenge to take part in the Hamilton Mathematical Olympiad.
