Our Year 13 Saddlers’ Scholars were invited, along with their parents, for a lunch at Saddlers’ Hall to wish them luck as they enter the final furlong of their time at Alleyn’s. We were welcomed into the splendour of the hall by the Prime Warden, The Hon. Mark Maffey, along with the other wardens and several past Prime Wardens.

The students were – as ever – effusive about the grazing on offer. But the thing that shone the most about the visit was the tremendous warmth and affection that the Saddlers showed to our students and their sincere interest in how the bright young minds were developing.

Iris (Year 13, Brading’s) spoke on behalf of the scholars to thank the Saddlers’ Company. She reflected on the charitable spirit shown by the Saddlers and how their generosity had fostered a desire amongst the scholars to give back to others, sharing some of the ways in which the five scholars had enjoyed contributing to the community over their time at Alleyn’s.

Director of Studies, Aidan Sproat-Clements, said, “We remain truly grateful to the Saddlers for the support they have shown to Alleyn’s over the years. Not only does their financial generosity help us continue to broaden access, their generosity of time and spirit provides our students with connections, opportunities, and inspiration. This is a partnership that we cherish fondly.”

The school will celebrate 50 years of partnership with the Worshipful Company of Saddlers next academic year with a series of events to mark the anniversary.
