Year 9 pupils enjoyed thinking a little more about their futures in a new Careers Programme and PSCHE session called ‘Routes to Work’.
Designed to encourage pupils to gently and purposefully become curious about different careers, it inspired them to start careers conversations with family members and family friends, to start their own research, and to take part-time work and voluntary work. It also kick-started the process of self-awareness and reflection, which will be beneficial as they consider their GCSE options.
The discussion explored:
The talk concluded by letting pupils know that careers (and success) are often not linear but can be more of a ‘squiggle’. Not only can we be employed, freelancers or self-employed – but technology means we can often be a combination of those things at the same time.
The Careers team at Alleyn’s is proud to support pupils (and their parents) and are open to enquiries from prospective and current pupils and parents via [email protected]
