Our Chief Financial Officer Claire Morgan was a guest speaker at the recent Barclays ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance Advisory Services) Schools Webinar online event on Thursday 15th June.

Speaking alongside Tim House (COO, Sustainability and ESG Advisory, BDO), Matt Jolley (Head of ESG Origination, Barclays) and Cheryl Connelly (Director of Training & Membership - Deputy CEO, AGBIS).

As knowledge and activity on ESG varies significantly across the sector, the presentations and debate brought to life various perspectives and approaches to sustainability. Drawing together speakers who reflected on their professional experiences and the opportunities that an ESG aligned mindset can offer. The speakers discussed how the Independent School Sector can address the ESG agenda including: how to embed a culture of sustainability, practical steps schools can take and how to measure an organisation’s ESG journey.

Claire’s presentation, ‘Addressing ESG in the Independent School Sector', focused on the environmental and social aspects of ESG. During her presentation, Claire noted that,

In the current challenging times, never has any organisation – and this includes school – needed to use and preserve its resources more carefully and effectively.

Reflecting on our School’s ROCCK values, Claire shared that,

Values underpin all activity at Alleyn’s – and these have been determined as ROCCK (respect, opportunity, curiosity, courage and kindness) as well as our sense of Purpose with this work – and these values have been articulated through many different perspectives such as gender and sustainability charters which the whole community sign up to.

We appreciate Claire sharing her expertise and insights during this timely and interesting discussion.
