It was wonderful to officially open The Well today and the calming Coronation Garden.

Our School decided we wanted to create a place which centralises mental health and wellbeing services for pupils and adults, which led to its construction.

Housing our nurses and councillors as well as an activity room for pastoral and mental fitness activities we hope this space will help our pupils and local community find the calm in a sometimes-chaotic world.

Today’s official opening, hosted by our Head Jane Lunnon, was an opportunity for the school to say ‘Thank You’ to various donors including the Alleyn’s Parent Association and credit the sale of the Buxton Centre all of which made this project possible.

Mrs Lunnon was joined by our Chair of Governors Laura Malkin, who unveiled a plaque and went onto, along with Mrs Lunnon and Vice School Captain Martina, plant the tree which had been blessed by Reverend Liz Lander in the morning’s Coronation Assembly in the newly named Coronation Garden next to The Well.

Guests were then invited to look around the new facility accompanied by our Upper School ‘Wellness Warriors’.

In her opening speech, Mrs Lunnon ended by referencing a quote by Walt Whitman.

“Keep your face toward the sunshine and the shadows will fall behind you.”

A sentiment we hope everyone can take forward into this bank holiday weekend and beyond.
