Just before the Spring Service, the Junior School Chamber Choir went up to St Barnabas’ Church to do a charity performance for the elderly group ‘Friends for Lunch’. Before they had their dessert course they were treated to a number of songs including ‘Greensleaves’, ‘You’ve Got a Friend in Me’ and the ABBA anthem ‘Dancing Queen’. A Year 6 pupil performed a beautiful arrangement of ‘Hallelujah’ by Leonard Cohen on the violin and another Year 6 pupil played the Toccata in D by J. S. Bach. The audience were thrilled with the choir and soloists and it was a delightful surprise for them, many of whom came up to me afterwards to say that it had really ‘made their day’! Many thanks to all the children in Chamber Choir for putting in the extra effort at the end of a very busy term and giving this group such a special treat.
