Today our community came together to 'Walk A Mile in My Shoes' to show support and raise funds for Angus' Giant Pledge for The Royal Marsden.

Year 8 pupil Angus was diagnosed with an aggressive blood cancer, T- cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (T-ALL) on 24th September 2019. He is one of under 100 children in the UK each year who receive this devastating diagnosis. Thankfully in January, Angus came to the end of his treatment and he marked this milestone by speaking to his fellow classmates to tell them about his journey and his Beads of Courage:

"You get a coloured bead each time something medical happens. As you can see, quite a bit happened. White beads are chemo, black beadss are blood tests. All the colours mean something different. In total there are 947 beads. Today I get my purple heart bead just like a military purple heart. It is awarded for bravery when wounded by an enemy. In my case leukaemia."

Today, to symbolise walking in Angus' shoes, pupils were encouraged to wear wacky shoes to school and add to a super sized Cord of Courage by adding a coloured tie to our garland to showcase how many people took part in the walk for Angus' Giant Pledge.

At the time of writing we've raised over £8000 for Angus' Giant Pledge, if you'd like to suppose Angus' campaign click here.
