On Thursday 23 March, the annual Alleyn's Jazz Night returned with an evening of vibrant and eclectic music, performed by the best up-and-coming jazz musicians Alleyn's has to offer.

Featuring pupils from Year 7 through to Year 13, the Great Hall was transformed into an intimate jazz club for this year’s Jazz Night, with all the trimmings you’d expect at Ronnie Scotts! And not forgetting the music – starting off with The Number 10 Party Band and Miss Wynter’s fantastic Soul Choir, then The Rhine Harts guitar trio and the Oliver Parikian Collective, injecting some serious modern jazz into proceedings.

The final set began with Swing Doctors playing Mr Bennett’s Mr Men Suite, and then Jazz Band concluded the evening with a programme featuring world premieres of pieces by two of the members, Oliver Parikian and Fred Stephens.

Alleyn’s Music Teacher, Mr Bennett said:

“All through the evening, the music was of the highest standard, with the audience hardly able to remain in their seats! Special mention should go to all the Year 13s taking part, for their wonderful contribution over the years to the now established legacy of great jazz at Alleyn’s.”
