Pupils from Eco Committee and the Environment Society began the assembly by introducing a video produced by The Economist which outlined the steps we can each take to reduce our individual carbon footprints.

The pupils then told the school about the many activities they can get involved in this week around school, which include several talks by both outside and home-grown pupil experts on subjects as diverse as nuclear fusion, air pollution and lab grown meat. Pupils can also attend a workshops on transitioning to a carbon-neutral society, sewing to promote sustainable fashion or find something exciting a new to wear without a carbon cost at the Upper School Clothes Swap on Wednesday.

Finally, instead of having Meat Free Monday, which we do as a school every week, the pupils announced that we will be reducing our collective carbon footprint by switching this around by having Meat Monday today and eating vegetarian lunches for the rest of the week. This is to reflect the impact we can make to our carbon footprints by simply reducing or stopping our consumption of meat, especially beef and lamb.
