Roper’s House pupils and their parents came together in the Great Hall on Thursday 29 September for Roper’s Rumpus - a fantastic evening of fun and entertainment, all in aid of their chosen House charity, the Alanouwaly Salifou Sylla Foundation.

The evening kicked off with an engaging and eye opening talk from the Founder of the Foundation who talked to the guests about the charity’s work building partnerships between people of West Africa and the UK to assist and improve each other’s life through inclusive and respectful exchange of skills, knowledge, music and culture.

The evening continued with pupil performances, including a rendition of their ensemble piece from House Music - a terrific display of Roper’s House talents! And a fundraising raffle and auction were then held to raise vital funds for their charity.

Before the evening drew to a close, pupils introduced their families to some traditional Roper’s games – gladiators and sock sorting! Parents took to the stage in a real display of energy and competitive spirit! Well done all!

Roper’s House Captain Ella, who compered the evening, said: “It was so nice to have the whole House and parents back together again - especially since, because of Covid, the last time a Roper’s Rumpus happened I was in Year 9! It was such a highlight to hear from the founder of our House charity and see what good the money we have raised and continue to raise is doing."

Head of House, Ros Thomson, said: "Roper’s Rumpus was a fabulous evening; reflecting the fun, joy and tremendous House spirit that is Roper’s. One of the highlights for me, was the Super Trouper’s, led so brilliantly by Ivy Bond: a collaboration of Year 9 and 11 pupils, who got the whole room clapping and dancing along. I’m so proud of all the students who took part in the event and very grateful for the generous support of their families."
