We’re pleased to announce Mr Ben Jones has been appointed as Director of Partnerships.

Ben joined Alleyn’s as a teacher of Physics in 2008, by 2011 he was Head of Physics and in 2015 he became Director of Science. Ben is not only a teacher at Alleyn’s but a parent too, with two of his three children attending our School.

Ben will be leading on the Schools partnership work which aims to:

  • engage all staff and all pupils with our partnership programme.

  • increase the breadth and depth of local and global partnerships – working hard to build mutually beneficial relationships based on need.

  • support our communities through a rich partnership programme, aid social mobility and open access to our school.

  • see our pupils become even more confident, lovers of learning, creative, kind and eager to contribute to broad society.

These ambitions will be acheived through the four elements of successful partnerships:

  1. Good partnerships are symbiotic. The skills developed, the relationships formed and the experiences gained through interaction with partnership in their varied forms are as enriching and horizon-expanding for our students and teachers as they are for our partners.

  2. Partnerships are sustainable, with clear organisational and accountability structures in place, roles defined, expectations clear, funding and marketing plans in place.

  3. Partnerships need to be specific or targeted with clear objectives - whether that be to provide exposure to and aspirations for university, to improve attainment in GCSE Languages, to develop greater resilience, or engage with new sports – there will be specific outcomes for specific groups in mind.

  4. Partnerships will self-evaluate. We will be critical about whether they meet the three previous criteria, and how they measure up to the Alleyn’s core ROCCK values.

“A mile away from Alleyn’s, on the railway bridge of Loughborough Junction is printed an African proverb: “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.'

Surely a rallying-call for Partnerships, this sentiment has been at the heart of Alleyn’s College of God’s Gift since its foundation, allowing us to use what we have been given, our human, cultural, financial, and physical resources to promote opportunities and access for the community around us.”
