The wet and windy weather, after weeks of lovely sunshine, did not dampen the spirits on Wednesday afternoon as we joined together to celebrate the official opening of the Junior School’s two buildings: the new Rose Building and the remodelled Fortune Building.

The theme was AJS Connects and the presence of so many current and former pupils, parents and staff, along with governors and many associated with the build itself enabled so much human connection. The Catering Department outshone themselves with beautifully presented and delicious edible treats. After suitable refreshments and touring of the facilities, the children came centre-stage to start off formal proceedings by singing our school song after which Mr Severino and Mrs Lunnon said a few words and thanked all those who had enabled this transformation of the Junior School. Then Mr Iain Barbour, Chair of Governors, cut the ribbon and officially opened the redeveloped school. Our School Captains rounded off a very jolly event by leading three cheers for AJS.
