‘Get stuck in and try something new’ was the mantra at the Co-curricular Fair this Friday lunch time as Year 7s were introduced to a plethora of clubs, societies and groups on offer at the school. The fair on Friday 10 September was organised in the Great Hall by Mr Green, Assistant Head (Co-Curricular & Partnerships) and supported by teachers, staff and senior pupils. The Co-Curricular Prefects encouraged younger members of the school to look around, ask questions and explore the huge range of things on display. "When I look back on all the excitement of being involved in so many activities in Year 7, some of my closet friends are the ones that I still am so close to in sport and music. There really is something for everyone and it’s a real opportunity to get to know the older students who help to lead lots of different clubs and societies’ said one prefect.

Aside from sports, music, drama and dance, Year 7s can choose from over 180 activities on offer each week from film, Warhammer, gardening, and jewellery clubs to Minority Students’ Union and the LGBTQ+ and Allies group.

“Each year we are thrilled to be able to offer so many options for our pupils. We really want them to throw themselves into their school lives and get involved; learn new things, surprise themselves and make friends” said Mr Green.

Head Mrs Lunnon reinforced that message in addressing the throng of Year 7s gathered in the hall, “In signing up for things, make an absolute commitment to sign up for one thing that you have not done before or would not have considered doing before. Challenge yourselves and have fun.”

All co-curricular activities begin the week commencing 13 September. Read more about them here.
