Rounding off this half-term, Alleyn’s musicians have delighted us with another fantastic series of virtual lunchtime concerts.

Usually performed in person in the Great Hall each Friday lunchtime, Alleyn’s musicians have instead recorded their pieces from home or in School, since pupils’ return on 8 March, for the Music Department to compile into a continuous concert-style video featuring each performance.

The virtual concert presents pupils from Year 7 through to Year 13, beautifully taking on pieces, from Bartok’s Romanian Dances No. 4, 5 & 6 on violin to Jimi Henrix’s The Wind Cries Mary on guitar. The initiative has given pupils a creative channel through which to enjoy a solo performance at a time when restrictions have prevented our usual concerts from taking place.

Congratulations to every pupil who submitted a recording this half term. We have thoroughly enjoyed seeing you perform on screen, and we cannot wait to see you play in person when this is possible.

You can enjoy one of the performances from Hailey in Year 10 below and watch the full concert which is available on the Hub.
