Reverend Liz Lander held an Easter Service giving thanks for new life and new beginnings on the last day of term to all Alleyn’s pupils and staff.

While our usual service could not go head due to Covid-19 restrictions, one service was held with a Year 13 bubble audience in person in the MCT which was live-streamed throughout classrooms and offices to all pupils and staff across the School.

After a series of beautiful musical performances and readings from students and the Head, Mrs Lunnon, Rev Lander told the Easter story through some of her favourite films. From Kung Fu Panda waiting for a dragon warrior to save everyone to the unexpected twist of Princess Fiona turning into an ogre in Shrek - which Rev Lander likened to the Christian message of Easter and the unexpected twist of Jesus’s rebirth and the need for everyone to have acceptance and love for each other just as we are. Rev Lander encouraged us all to take this message home this Easter – to accept and love ourselves.

After a prayer for those who are finding life difficult right now and who might be grieving or feel they are in darkness, we gave thanks for the Covid-19 vaccine and looked ahead to new freedoms with the hope that everyone across the world will live without fear.

The memorable service finished with Rev Lander reading our Founders Prayer.

Happy Easter to all pupils and staff after a busy term. Enjoy a wonderful break and we look forward to welcoming you back for the Trinity term.
