Head of Alleyn's, Jane Lunnon, has issued a statement about gender equality at Alleyn's. The statement reads as follows:

"In the last few weeks, we have all wrestled with the reality of women feeling unsafe on our streets, and read with dismay the frequent, often distressing testimonies being published in mainstream and social media about the wider treatment of women and girls.

Many of these accounts reflect upon misogynist, abusive attitudes and behaviours, which we unequivocally condemn. They are anachronistic and damaging and have no place in a fair, kind and equal society.

Safeguarding our girls and boys; ensuring that they feel supported, heard and understood, is at the heart of everything we do. To that end, any disclosures we receive will be treated with the utmost seriousness and followed up with the appropriate agencies.

In response to the current situation, and as part of our longstanding commitment to co-educational excellence, we have created a dedicated and comprehensive gender equality development plan.

This will include our new Alleyn's Equality Charter, currently being developed by pupils, staff and alumni to codify what gender equality, kindness and respect looks like in the daily life of our School."
