A huge thank you to actor Tom Godwin (Roper’s 1994) for inspiring Alleyn’s Year12 students through their Alleyn's Intelligence Quotient (AiQ) curriculum, focusing on Touchstones and the ways we see and shape culture, how we get our messages out there and make the world a place we want it to be.

Tom shared his career path and experiences of training in Paris at the École International de Théâtre Jacques Lecoq at the age of 18 and his journey into acting for TV, film and the stage, including parts in Napolean, Taboo, Coronation Street and Alice Through the Looking Glass.

He touched on the character-building highs and lows he has experienced in his acting career, the need to remain driven and the benefits of creating your own work.

For Tom, creating live events on London’s Southbank has been a highlight and a way to bring people together from all walks of life to foster community and connection. This message struck a chord with Year 12s who are exploring how the stories we tell can be powerful agents for transformation through their AiQ studies.

It was brilliant to have you back in the Great Hall Tom, the scene of many Alleyn’s play and performance. And thank you for inspiring Year 12s, sparking their curiosity and helping them think about how the journeys they make can make a difference.
