Family members and friends of Year 7 pupils packed out the MCT for two very special evenings this week. On Monday 23 January, pupils in 7C, 7D and 7E showcased their musical talents in the first of two Year 7 Concerts. And on Tuesday 24 January, it was the turn of pupils in 7A, 7B and 7F.

The audience was treated to two invigorating evenings, in which the pupils displayed not just their musical talents but an amazing maturity and flare for performance. Pupils came together for some fantastic joint choir and class ensemble performances including upbeat renditions of Can You Feel The Love Tonight, Eleanor Rigby, The Flintstones, The Pink Panther, Bohemian Rhapsody and Super Trouper. And the audience was also treated to outstanding individual performances.

Assistant Director of Music (Academic), Chris Fish, said:

“The Year 7 Concerts enable every Year 7 pupil to perform as part of an ensemble, regardless of previous musical experience. For some it may be the first (but hopefully not the last!) time that they have been involved in a performance of this nature. Through this process, pupils have developed musical skills and the ability to work as a team, as well as perseverance and performance skills.”

Congratulations to all our Year 7s!

A retiring collection was made on each evening in aid of the school charities, Sparrow Schools in South Africa and Under One Sky.
