Mrs Visram highlighted how important work experience as an important part of career planning, especially for those Year 12s and 13s, who had not been able to do any so far because of Covid-19.

Mrs Visram also spoke about how work experience can inform career curiosity and decision-making in the process of career planning, how not having any work experience can take its toll at the interview stage and most important, how to secure work experience, which can be valuable in person but also online, which is increasingly popular.

Mrs Visram told pupils about all the ways pupils can explore work experience possibilities and helping other pupils with contacts too. She directed pupils to Unifrog work experience placements tool as well as the apprenticeship tool, which can also be helpful to give pupils ideas for work experience.

There is a wealth of information and guidance in the careers section of the Hub for parents and pupils to access and the full video of Mrs Visram’s presentation will be going up in the Careers section of the Hub.
