We are excited to announce that Alleyn’s has adopted The Halo Code, the UK's first black hair code. No black staff or students should have to change their natural or protective hairstyle in order to thrive at Alleyn’s and we hope that the Halo Code will move us one step closer to a world free from discrimination, where all black members of our community have their identities fully recognised and celebrated.

Head of Lower School Stuart Turner, who has been leading on some diversity and inclusion initiatives at Alleyn's, including the adoption of The Halo Code, said: "The school recognises the need for everyone in the community to challenge hair discrimination as part of our responsibility to understands one another’s history, culture and background."

We are very proud, too, that Matilda, a recent alumna of Alleyn’s, is one of the founders of the Halo Code. During her time at Alleyn's, Matilda did much to promote the causes of diversity and inclusion, particularly in helping to establish our Minorities Student Union.
