Len, who has died in his retirement home of Spain, though not an Old Boy of the School, was a lovely man and a great supporter of the Club.  Those who met him in the Clubhouse will be familiar with his quiet, good-humoured demeanour and infectious chuckle.  During the 1980’s and 1990’s, he refereed numerous matches for the Football Club, where he was famously and affectionately referred to in the Teamsheet as “one of the greatest one-liner refs in history”, and also umpired occasionally for the Cricket Club.

He and Joan (along with Lesley & Brian Humber and Lena & Jan Berglund) were also regular and committed “Supporters Club” members on the balcony and in the bar at Burbage Road and elsewhere, when their sons were playing, as they had been at Alleyn’s and on the School’s Cricket Tour to Barbados.

We have lost another of life’s true gentlemen and the Club sends its sincere condolences to Joan, Simon and Justin and all of the Naish family.
