The sun was shining on the elegant grounds of Buckingham Palace on Monday 13 May, when 17 Alleyn’s students and alumni joined the throng to collect their Duke of Edinburgh Gold Awards, presented this year by the Countess of Wessex.

The group were accompanied by Alleyn’s Duke of Edinbugh’s Award Co-ordinator, Mr Alldrick, and three members of staff, who were being presented with long service certificates for their work in the Duke of Edinbugh’s Award scheme: Ms Walker has clocked up 38 Years, Ms Chandler 28 years, and Rev Dalwood 30 years (24 of those at Alleyn’s). Along with Mr Alldrick, who has worked with Duke of Edinburgh at Alleyn’s for 20 years, this adds up to an impressive 110 years between them.

The Duke of Edinburgh scheme at Alleyn’s is always popular and is one of the largest programmes in the south-east of England.
