This week saw the first meeting of the Learning Council, where ten passionate pupils from Years 9 to 13 came together to help shape the future of learning at our school. More than just a forum, the Learning Council is a powerful space for pupil voice, where they can share their insights that inform the decisions made by teachers and staff.

The meeting started with a lively discussion on how best to support pupils preparing for exams. Reflecting on last year’s successes, the council celebrated the impact of peer-to-peer advice in helping pupils revise effectively. Building on that momentum, pupils brainstormed new ways to share their expertise, aiming to provide even more targeted and accessible revision help this year.

Technology was also on the agenda. The council explored the many digital tools available to support revision, sharing their personal favourites and offering feedback on which platforms really work. With pupils at the heart of digital learning, their input is important in shaping how the school leverages tools to enhance learning.

The conversation then shifted to the start of the new school year, and pupils shared both challenges and triumphs. This feedback will help guide teachers to better understand and support pupil needs as the year progresses.

The meeting concluded with a focus on expanding the council. The group brainstormed creative ideas to encourage younger pupils, particularly in Years 7 and 8, to get involved. After all, the more voices represented, the stronger the council becomes.

The Learning Council continues to demonstrate that pupil feedback isn’t just heard - it drives real change. By working together, pupils and teachers are ensuring that our school remains a place where learning and collaboration thrive!
