On Thursday, twenty Year 12 Further Mathematics students attended Maths Fest 2025 at Kensington Town Hall, an all-day celebration of mathematics presented by Matt Parker and designed to inspire sixth formers.
Some of the country’s top mathematics speakers came together to share their favourite aspects of the subject. Students enjoyed talks on the maths of a Rubik’s cube (Katie Steckles), mathematics in video game arcades (Matthew Scroggs), the real-world impact of statistics in medicine (Jen Visser-Rogers), exam strategies (Nicole Cozens), and the sacred geometry of chance (Ben Sparks).
A standout moment was Max R (Year 12) taking the stage as one of four finalists in Maths Slam. He delivered a superb three-minute presentation on Hyperoperations in front of an audience of 900 students and teachers—an incredible achievement!
An inspiring, exciting, and fun mathematical day out for all.
