Alleyn’s Takes Part in International Maths and Science Study

Year 9 Maths classes were invited for the first time this week to take part in the Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS) which assesses the maths and science trends in Years 5 and 9. TIMMS takes place every 4 years in over 60 countries and provides internationally comparative data on pupils’ attainment and how their performance is related to their attitudes, gender and background. TIMSS also surveys teachers to obtain perspectives on teaching and the school environment.

The pupils took an online test and completed questionnaires. They all looked relaxed and felt positive about the test they had taken. The results will used by departments of education around the world to compare the strengths and weaknesses of our education systems.
