29 June 2019 dawned blue and bright, providing a fitting backdrop for Speech Day and the Founder’s Day festivities that followed.

Pupils, parents and staff came together in St Barnabas Church, in the words of AOG Angela Horne, “to celebrate the achievements of individual prize-winners and staff as well as the wonderful ethos and values of the School”.

AOB The Right Honourable Professor the Lord Kakkar spoke about how the Alleyn’s community “found the treasure trove inside each of us, extracted and polished it” before urging leavers to stay in touch with the School and to give back if they could.

School Captain Caitlyn Leithhead spoke warmly of her experience of Alleyn’s and encouraged fellow pupils to try as many co-curricular activities as they could during their time here.

Following the inspiring service, the School opened its gates to the wider community for Founder’s Day. Family fun ensued, with fairground rides and food on offer as well as opportunities to watch sport, music and CCF activities and to view the Summer Show.

There were many nods to the Alleyn’s 400 celebrations, including two Alleyn’s 400-themed exhibitions and a special visit from the Mastiff Association (Edward Alleyn was ‘Chief Master, Ruler and Overseer of his Majesty’s Games, of Bears and Bulls and Mastiff Dogs’).

All profits raised on the day were donated to a wide range of the School’s chosen charities.
