Alleyn’s Year 12 Psychology students were given the opportunity to experience Phobias Day at London Zoo recently, which challenged arachnophobes and explained the causes and treatments of phobias. By the end of the day, following a 15-minute hypnosis session, almost everyone was able to let Rosie the tarantula walk across their trembling palm. As well as learning about Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and the ‘Friendly Spider Programme’ students enjoyed exploring the zoo, and met everything from baby sloths to Bactrian camels. It was a fascinating and enjoyable day experiencing Psychology in practice.
