Some of our pupils and staff were fortunate enough to attend the annual ‘Commonwealth Service’ held at Westminster Abbey in the presence of the Queen and several senior members of the Royal Family.

The service is the largest annual multicultural, multi-faith gathering in the UK and features a blend of testimonies, live performances and readings from throughout the Commonwealth. The theme of this year's service, A Connected Commonwealth, highlighted how the Commonwealth vision can bring us together in hope and inspire us to find ways to protect our planet and our people.

2019 also marks the 70th anniversary of the formation of the Commonwealth as it is configured today, with its old ties and new links enabling cooperation towards social, political and economic development which is both inclusive and sustainable. The service brought together over 700 children from around the British Isles, many dignitaries and 53 Flag Bearers, dressed in national costumes, representing the member countries of the Commonwealth.

This service was a wonderful experience but it also conveyed an important message to the young people of the Commonwealth. We felt very thrilled to have been able to attend this auspicious occasion.
