David Young, Director of Development, has nominated the School’s Memorial Garden. The garden was consecrated in 1954 as a memorial to those Alleyn Old Boys who died in the Second World War. The site of the garden is at the junction of Townley Road and Calton Avenue where the RAF barrage balloon site had been moored during the war. The garden was designed and created by Mr VK Haslam, who taught at Alleyn’s from 1927 until 1955. Today the Memorial Garden is set aside as a place of quiet and reflection amid the hurly burly of school life.
