This afternoon, the school community came together for an exhilarating Dance- Off, raising money for two important charities: Sparrow Schools and St. Mungo’s. Pupils were encouraged to wear their own clothes and, if able, donate £2 to support the causes, contributing to a day filled with fun and generosity.

Sparrow Schools focuses on providing education to children in South Africa, helping to break the cycle of poverty, while St. Mungo’s is a UK-based charity working to end homelessness through shelter, training, and advocacy. Both causes received a significant boost from the funds raised during this annual event.

A Celebration of Dance and Inclusion
The Dance-Off, a highly anticipated highlight of the school year, showcased creative routines from each house. This year’s theme, “One Hit Wonders,” brought a range of nostalgic performances to the stage, with music from Mambo Number 5 to Barbie Girl

Houses were judged on choreography, performance, and inclusivity, with the challenge of involving students from various year groups and genders. The judging panel included Mrs. Lunnon, Mr. Levy from Dance, Mr Todd from The Lodge, and Miss White from the Library, who faced the tough task of selecting the top routines.

Competition and Charity Combine
After all the Houses performed their carefully choreographed routines, the top four were invited to dance again in a thrilling second round. The energy in the room was electric as pupils cheered on their teams, culminating in Brown’s House being crowned the ultimate winner. Along with pride and bragging rights, they earned valuable points toward the House Cup.

This year’s Dance-Off not only celebrated the creativity and teamwork of pupils but also served as a powerful reminder of the impact that collective action can have on those in need.
