We are delighted and proud to announce the appointment of Ordinary Cadet 2* Chloé M as this year's Lord Lieutenant's Cadet for LONDIST CCF.
In her new role, OC Masson will provide support to the Lord Lieutenant, Sir Kenneth Olisa OBE, assisting him in various civic duties and formal functions.
The Lord-Lieutenant plays a vital role in supporting the military community in London, encompassing regulars, reserves, and cadets. Serving as President of the Greater London Reserve Forces' and Cadets Association (GLRFCA), he facilitates essential connections between the military forces and the local community. This non-political organisation promotes the benefits of part-time military service, raises awareness of skills gained through such service, and aids in recruiting efforts while maintaining the Reserve Forces and Cadets estate.
Each year, the Lord-Lieutenant has historically appointed three outstanding Cadets from the Sea, Army, and Air Cadets to assist him in his duties. This year, the Lord-Lieutenant appointed four Cadets, with Chloé selected as the newly introduced fourth Cadet for the first time in history. The Cadets are chosen for their exemplary dedication and service, both as Cadets and members of their communities. Over the course of 12 months, they will accompany the Lord-Lieutenant to various events and support him in his official responsibilities.
OC Masson's interest in the Royal Navy led her to the CCF, where she seized the opportunity to broaden her skill set. Actively engaged in her community, Chloé participates in the Southwark Youth Parliament and volunteers at CCF functions, including cornerstone events like the YouLondon conference held in 2022. She has embraced activities such as shooting and sailing, earning her competent crew certification from the RYA, and, motivated by a commitment to diversity and equality, shares her experiences through educational talks promoting the importance of a diverse armed forces.
Beyond her military pursuits, OC Masson excels as a musician and cricketer, demonstrating her broad interests and skill sets.
Congratulations, Chloé, on this well-deserved achievement!
