Alleyn’s Multicultural Week is on the horizon, promising a vibrant celebration of the cultures within and beyond the Alleyn’s community. Led diligently by the Minority Student Union (MSU), this anticipated annual occasion will be a week of learning, engagement and activity aimed at fostering cultural understanding and engagement.   

This year, events include: 

Dance:  

A Multicultural dance workshop with a Bollywood-inspired focus – delivered by Anita Makwana of Discover Dance UK

Food:  

A “Learn to make Chinese Mooncakes” cookery workshop within Lower and Middle School cookery clubs – led by Yi Ming and Annie (Year 12) and supported by the Food and Nutrition team. 

Exploring culture:  

A Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) Society session on the Basque Culture delivered by Ms. Maialen Ubiria (MFL Spanish Assistant), and a Cultural Cafe featuring mini presentations from the student body. 

Language:  

An introduction to Mandarin lunchtime session, open to all and delivered by Alleyn’s Mandarin Teacher, Mr. Claudio Gebbia. 

Music and Fashion:  

Our second ever Alleyn’s Multicultural Week Fashion Show, featuring pupils from both the Senior School and Junior School, showcasing garments that reflect their heritage. Music and vibes will be led by DJ Showers, so you know it will be a fun and energetic tour around the world. 

As Alleyn’s gears up for this immersive cultural experience, anticipation is high for a week filled with learning, engagement, and celebration of diversity and culture.
