Well done to Brown’s House for their amazing fundraising efforts for Blood Cancer UK. Through their dedicated work, Brown’s raised £9,285.42 over 2 years, which was presented to Blood Cancer UK this morning.

Blood Cancer UK was nominated for support by Maya (now in Year 13), two years ago, and fundraising was spread over a variety of events across that period, including:

  • Selling Brown’s Brownies on Founders Day
  • Running the abseil on Founders Day
  • Hosting Brown’s Bash
  • Organising a charity bike ride
  • Selling cakes at break time

The cornerstone fundraiser event was Brown’s Bash, a charity evening that welcomes Brown’s parents into school to enjoy entertainment including House music, magic and solo performances. There were raffles and silent auctions, and our generous parents very kindly donate prizes for the cause. This year, Brown’s Bash raised over £5,000 alone.

Blood Cancer UK is a community dedicated to beating blood cancer, and their work is paramount for our communities. Their key operation is funding research and supporting those affected - since 1960, they have invested over £500 million in blood cancer research, transforming treatments and saving lives.

Lydia, Regional Relationships Manager, expressed her gratitude for Brown’s support, stating: ‘The most enormous thanks again for making such a generous donation, the students have clearly worked really hard, and it was lovely to visit the school and demonstrate the difference your support will make.

‘The fundraising and awareness generated by the commitment of Brown’s House will allow us to bring forward the day when no one dies of blood cancer or its treatments.’.

With the money raised, Blood Cancer UK can invest in essential research that develops cures for people who have blood cancer, improve treatments and care for people living with blood cancer right now, and look for ways to stop blood cancer before it starts.

Blood cancer can affect anyone, regardless of their age, gender or lifestyle and is the 3rd biggest cancer killer in the UK, claiming more than 15,000 lives each year. Well done to Brown’s for supporting such a worthwhile cause.
