On Sunday 14 May 2023 the CCF RAF Gliding Trip to RAF Kenley 615 VGS took place and went extremely well!
Alleyn’s CCF had been selected to partake in a day of gliding with the RAF at RAF Kenley. The activity involved an ‘unpowered’ form of gliding, often used by the cadet forces in absence of powered rotary aircraft.
All cadets gained valuable time in the air, especially Cadet Sofia, who was lucky enough to find the best thermals of the day, with a flight time of 34 minutes.
Our pupils all worked as a wider team to make the experience enjoyable for all, including two other CCF groups.
Roles throughout the day included: collecting winch cables, communicating with ground crew and pilots to attached cables to the gliders, levelling glider wings ready for launch, relaying instructions from pilot to control tower and moving gliders back into position after landing.
Our pupils were an asset to Alleyn’s CCF, RAF section and to our school.
Junior School Open Day
The next Alleyn's Junior School Open Event is from 1.30pm to 3pm on Wednesday 22 May 2024. There will be a Head's Talk at 1.40pm after which you will be offered a tour of the school with a pupil. There is no need to book a place at this Open Event - everyone is welcome.
