Dance Outreach

Year 12 Outreach, as part of the Enrichment programme, sees eager Year 12s plan and deliver innovative lessons in various subjects including Art, Science, Animation and Dance. And, as ever, Dance Outreach has been a massive success, engaging four different classes across two schools.

This term Alleyn’s students have been delivering sessions inspired by the States of Matter; moving and choreographing as solids, liquids and gases. They have delivered games, creative exercises and set choreography which finishes in a mini performance at the end of our time with each school, which has been thoroughly enjoyed by each class.

Students have found it an exciting experience in learning, discovering “the importance of preparing for a lesson and how much effort teachers put into doing so” (Niamh, Year 12 ).

As a teacher, it is wonderful to see their growth in confidence and communication, trusting themselves to lead a room and finding the balance between comradery and authority in the space.

Alex in Year 12 said:

“I’ve gained a lot of confidence in holding the attention of the room and the importance of having methods like a call and response to help with that.”
