The annual prize, offering Upper School students the opportunity to research a topic they are intrigued by but that isn’t covered in their curriculum, also prepares students for university studies as they learn how to present academic research.

This year, the overall winner was announced as Eloise, for her project: Comprehending the Incomprehensible; Can we mitigate the risk of US mass shootings through a holistic understanding of what causes and enables them?

The two runners up were Felix, with his project, To What Extent Do Unethical Design Practices Negatively Impact the Consumer? and Molly, with her project Death Off Stage: How much can the Greek tragic custom of holding characters’ deaths off stage inform us about dramatic and historical contexts?

Felix and Molly signed the Head’s book today and chatted about their experience of completing the project with Mrs Lunnon. The Head told the students:

“The standard of your essays was enormously impressive and the standard of your vivas was absolutely formidable - well done!”

Read the abstracts for all three essays here and parents and pupils with access to the Hub can read the full length essays here. (You may be asked to log in).
