Year 6 spent a truly fascinating day at the Jewish Museum in Camden on Tuesday, 3 March. To complement their learning about World War II in humanities this term, they had the opportunity to learn a great deal about what life was like in Germany for Jewish people.

Donning white gloves, the children were able to handle a precious spice box and learn the touching story behind it and then had an incredibly personal talk from Ruth Barnett, one of the 10,000 Jewish children who escaped Germany shortly before the outbreak of the war in 1939 on trains that became known as the kindertransport.

The whole day provided much food for thought and really brought the past to life.
