Alleyn’s alumni, friends and current and future parents with a connection to the Law industry came together on Thursday 25 May for a networking evening at the Law Society in London.

Guests had the chance to hear from John Battle (Tulley’s 1981), who recently received an Honorary King’s Counsel award for his efforts in support of filming court proceedings.

John shared some highlights of his career, which has combined the world of law and his love of the media, and he spoke fondly about the role that Alleyn’s played in his journey, having attended the School on a grant-assisted place. He also reflected upon how his first introduction to law was during a visit to court as part of an Alleyn’s Field Day. It was this introduction which sparked his interest in pursuing a career in law.

John spoke of the lifelong friendships he forged at school and his continuing links to many areas of Alleyn’s life, still playing football for the Alleyn’s Old Boy Football Club.

Thank you, John, and to everyone who attended, for a brilliant evening of connection. We are particularly thankful to those who spent time supporting our young alumni by providing personal insight into the breadth of possible careers in law – traditional, new and niche!
