Our Boys team took part in their National Championship Finals at Haberdashers’ Boys’ School last week and came in 4th in the country! An amazing effort. Highlights of the day have got to include beating Bolton and KES Birmingham 4-2!

The U18 boys then took it one step further on Monday at their Schools Water Polo League finals, winning the whole tournament and becoming league champions! They even beat the newly crowned national champions, so were incredibly excited to come away with the gold medals and trophy!

Tuesday saw our U18 girls team travel up to Northampton for their national championship finals. They had done incredibly well to progress through to the finals, and in a highly contested tournament against some incredibly physical and talented teams, achieved fifth place overall in the country.

Netball

On Monday 27th March the 1st VII took on JAGs in the annual Foundation Schools Senior Netball Cup. From the first whistle the game was closely contested with shooting from both teams nearing 100% accuracy. The third quarter saw Alleyn’s take the lead with the game ending 44-40 to Alleyns. For a lot of these players the game marks the end of a seven year sporting rivalry with our friends over the road – what a fantastic game to finish on!

Football

Our Senior boys have capped a successful season by both reaching the finals of the Elgin League, to be held next term.  Having qualified from the pool matches played across the advent term, both teams enjoyed semi-final victories this past week.  The first eleven visited lancing College and secured a 4-2 win, whilst the second eleven hosted Westminster and recorded a narrow 3-2 victory.  We wish both teams the very best for the finals when they come round.

Fives

The National Fives Championships were held last weekend at St Paul’s School. Twenty two schools participated in this high level event. Alleyn’s entered 17 students and the highlight achievement was from two of our Under 16 players, Yarin and Alex, who reached the doubles final, finishing as National Runners-Up after a hard fought match against Winchester College. Well done to all who took part.

Cycling Compeition

Cycling Competition (DISCC) on Wednesday at the velodrome The pupils had a good crack at it and, in particular, worked well as a Team when it came to the Team Pursuit races. There was some stiff competition in all categories from plenty of club cyclists. However, the boys still managed to win the U14 category – with quite a significant contribution from Billy in Year 8 who cycles for Velo Club Londres.
